LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The 10^th-ranked UC Irvine men's water polo team dropped its final game of the MPSF Invite to No. 13 Loyola Marymount, 14-10.
 
UCI concluded the invite with a 1-3 record and a 12^th place finish. The Anteaters fall to 6-5 on the season. LMU moves to 5-7 overall.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Daniel Norman, Jason Evezard and Jon Polos each finished with two goals
> Ivan Mercep, Carson Arnett, Bryant Joudrie and Foster Hoose all added one goal apiece
> Harrison Land and Collin Winters split time in goal. Land finished with five saves while Winters had three
> UCI outshot LMU 39-27 but struggled in extra-man situations finishing 2-5. The Lions went 4-5 on powerplays
> LMU's David Carrasco had a game-high five goal performance
 
TURNING POINTS
Quarter One
> A slow start ultimately doomed the Anteaters as LMU pulled ahead 3-0 after the first quarter
 
Quarter Two
> LMU extended its lead, 7-0, with 4:28 to play
> Hoose broke the UCI scoring drought with a goal at 3:41 to make it 7-1
> Mercep and Evezard fired in back-to-back goals to close the gap. 7-3, at the half
 
Quarter Three
> Norman had two goals in the frame while Joudrie and Arnett added one apiece
> The 'Eaters still trailed by four, 11-7, after the quarter

Quarter Four
> The teams traded goals throughout the fourth quarter as the 'Eaters were unable to close the four-goal gap in the final eight minutes ultimately suffering the 14-10 defeat
> Polos added two goals while Evezard tallied one
