FIRST SERVE
UCI kicks off the season at the Oregon Classic Friday and Saturday (Aug. 30-31) at the Matthew Knight Arena.

The Anteaters will take on Oregon State first at 11:00 a.m. then the host Ducks at 7:00 p.m. UCI will wrap up tournament play Saturday against Boston College at 11:00 a.m.
 
STORYLINES
Oregon State and UCI are deadlocked at 2-2 all-time. The last time the teams tangled was Sept. 18, 2015 when the Anteaters beat OSU 3-1 in Irvine.

The Beavers posted an 11-21 record a year ago.
 
The Anteaters trail the Ducks 1-2 in the series record, meeting the last time in 2008 with Oregon taking the 3-0 victory in Irvine. The teams have met once in Eugene, a 3-2 victory by OU in 1993.
 
This will be the first meeting with Boston College. The Eagles finished 2018 with a 15-15 record.
 
The Ducks are No. 11 in the AVCA preseason coaches poll. Oregon advanced to the Elite Eight a year ago, ending with a 23-11 record.
 
The last time UCI upset a ranked opponent was Aug. 27, 2016 when the Anteaters swept No. 7 USC, 3-0 on the road.

UCI will take on three Pac-12 opponents in 2019, facing Cal next week at the UCI/adidas Invitational.

The Oregon Classic is the first of four preseason tournaments the Anteaters will compete in this year.
