Exhibition vs. UCLA – Sunday, August 18 – 6:00 PM - Anteater Stadium
UCI invites a huge competitor in the UCLA Bruins mid-August for a Summer Sunday night collision as a final tune-up before the season officially opens the following week.
The Bruins are coming off a trip to the National Championship game in 2017 along with a 2018 trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals that ended in the program's 14th top-10 finish in the last 17 years in addition to its most recent national title in 2013. The Bruins remain strong with 10 starters returning in a roster filled with Southern California talent right alongside four national team members, a pair of All-Americans, and two participants in the 2019 Women's World Cup providing the ultimate preseason test for the Anteaters
The Anteaters will play a second exhibition prior to the matchup with UCLA happening Friday, August 16 vs. Cal Baptist at 7:00 p.m.
Home Opener vs. Iowa State – Sunday, August 23 - 1:00 PM - Anteater Stadium
The home ledger stays at a high profile with a Sunday afternoon tilt against Iowa State
The Cyclones come from the best rated conference a year ago in the Big 12. Iowa State is 1 of 2 Big 12 opponents on the schedule for UCI who will also play Texas Tech on a neutral site a year after the Red Raiders finished ranked in the top 25 and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
UCI's home opener will be just the sixth meeting with a member of the Big 12 and third game to take place at UC Irvine. UCI has won the two home matchups against the Big 12 including a 2014 victory over Oklahoma
SEC Showdown vs. Vanderbilt – Friday, August 30 - 7:00 PM - Anteater Stadium
The season rolls right along with a visit from Vanderbilt, a member of the second-highest rated conference from a year ago, the SEC.
The Commodores were the champions of the SEC in 2018 for their third conference title, and reached the second round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament ending as the 16th-ranked program in the country. The 'Eaters have welcomed SEC programs Auburn and Texas A&M into Anteater Stadium previously going 1-2-1 in those matchups. UCI renews its rivalry with the SEC after last playing in 2015. UCI had six matchups with the SEC between 2011-15
UCI and Vanderbilt sail into Labor Day Weekend with Friday night's matchup, and the weekend concludes with another Sunday evening contest as the 'Eaters square off with the Bears of Northern Colorado at 6:00 p.m.
Pac-12 Prevalent with Visit from Cal, Trips to Arizona, Arizona State
Head Coach
Scott Juniper and the Anteaters matched their 2018 slate that featured four Pac-12 schools feeding off the preseason meeting with UCLA with three regular season matchups highlighted by a Friday night contest with Cal, September 13 at 5:00 p.m. The 'Eaters opened the 2017 season at Cal after the Golden Bears did so in Irvine for the 2013 season, but the 'Eaters earned a draw at Cal in 2010 with a Cal team that featured USWNT star Alex Morgan
The meeting with Cal proceeds a competitive trip to Arizona to play the University of Arizona and Arizona State September 6 and 8. UCI and Arizona matchup for the third straight season in what has been a highly-competitive series. For Arizona State, UCI rekindles that matchup for the first time since the famous 2010 NCAA Tournament meeting.
The 'Eaters have 19 wins against Pac-12 opponents all-time, and during coach Juniper's tenure UCI is 7-15-4 against the conference with this being the fourth season his schedule has included four games with the Pac-12
School Starts vs. UCF - Sunday, September 22 - 11:30 AM - Anteater Stadium
The 2019-20 schoolyear begins the week of September 23, and UC Irvine soccer rings it in with a massive matchup with the UCF Golden Knights, part of the American Athletic Conference rated the seventh-toughest conference in the nation, coming off a 10-win season
Sunday features the only doubleheader of the 2019 season as women's soccer will start the day off with an 11:30 a.m. start leading into a 2:00 p.m. game as UCI men's soccer takes on Gonzaga
Challenging Non-Conference Trips Into ACC, Pac-12, BYU Country
All games get toughest when the team heads out on the road, and coach Juniper's squad will be very tested in 2019.
The season's first match sends the Anteaters out to ACC power Virginia, Friday, August 23. The Cavaliers finished ranked No. 11 with an RPI of 13 winning 16 games. UVA reached the NCAA Tournament for the 25th season in a row, and is six years removed from its third College Cup in program history. UCI's only previous regular season ACC matchups have been with Pittsburgh in addition to a 2010 NCAA Tournament matchup with Wake Forest giving UCI wins in all three matchups with the ACC.
UCI makes its trip to Arizona to take on the Wildcats and Sun Devils early in September against a pair of programs rated top 50 RPI in 2018. The 'Eaters remain in Pac-12 country with a neutral site match in Pullman, Washington against Texas Tech out of the nation's top conference, the Big 12.
Non-conference play ends with a strong test in the Mountain Time Zone at BYU, Saturday, September 28. Its the first meeting since UCI's upset of No. 6 BYU in Provo with a 90th-minute goal from Natalia Ledezma back in 2013. The Cougars finished that season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, and since then have reached the postseason in four of the last five seasons and at least 13 wins in six of the last seven years
UC Irvine's non-conference scheduling has continued to challenge them with a non-conference strength of schedule within the top 100 in four of the last six years. Coach Juniper's squad has faced at least four top-50 RPI squads in each of the last seven seasons, and UCI has taken away at least four non-conference wins in those seasons as well.
UCI's average 2018 RPI from its 2019 opponents sits at 69 entering the season. The five non-conference opponents UCI takes on away from home averages an RPI of 30.
