IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine got another much-need win Sunday in Anteater Ballpark dropping UC Davis, 10-4, behind a big first inning
Pregame Festivities
The game originally scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. was pushed back due to rain officially starting at 1:45 p.m. Prior to that, the team honored its eight seniors with a ceremony before first pitch for

7-Run First
UCI (34-16, 15-6) took the celebration into the first inning scoring seven runs. UCI pounded out six hits and walked three times sending 12 Anteaters to the plate.
Adrian Damla scored the first two on a two-run single with one out.
Konnor Zickefoose followed with a two-run double. With two outs,
Mikey Filia lashed an infield single off the pitcher to score the fifth run.
Sam Ireland scampered home on a wild pitch, and the final run came around on
Jake Palmer's RBI single.
Davis Responds
UC Davis (19-29, 9-15) got a pair of runs on their own thanks to one of their seniors, Garret Kelly, rocking
Taylor Rashi for a two-run home run in the top of the second.
Exchanging Blows
The teams each got runs through the middle innings with UCI adding to its run total with a two-out RBI single from Palmer in the third. UCD got one back unearned in the fifth thanks to an error and passed ball. UCI scored again in the sixth as
Mike Peabody blooped home
Brandon Lewis who reached on a bloop double to open the inning, and the 10th run came from a walk, wild pitch, and infield single thrown into the dugout.
Freedom Frias
After a solid start from
Taylor Rashi going four innings allowing two runs,
Michael Frias took the reins and shut down UC Davis. After an unearned run in the fifth inning, Frias sat down nine of 11 hitters over his final three innings to put UCI's win on cruise control.
Final Score: UC Irvine 10, UC Davis 4
UCI finished with 13 hits including multi-hit games from Palmer, Koss, Peabody, and Zickefoose. Damla drove home two runs along with Palmer and Zickefoose while all nine Anteater starters crossed home plate. Kelly for UC Davis had two hits and two RBI while Cooper Morrison had a three-hit game for UCD who pounded out 11 hits in the loss
Pitchers of Record
Frias earned the victory on the afternoon, the first of his career, with one unearned run over four innings, no walks, and a career-high six strikeouts. Chris Brown was tagged with all seven runs in the first for UC Davis in just 0.2 innings for his fifth loss of the season.
