
Patrick Sohacki Named Big West Defensive Player Of The Week

IRVINE, Calif. -- In only his third and fourth starts of his career, UC Irvine sophomore Patrick Sohacki captured his first Big West Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honor.
The 6-foot-6 middle blocker was a force at the net, averaging 1.60 blocks per set in a pair of five-set matches against CSUN.
Sohacki had seven total blocks on Friday then returned Saturday for a career-high nine total blocks in a five-set victory.
He hit .600 for the week with 18 kills and only three errors in 25 swings. He posted a career-high 10 kills on Friday then swung at a .636 (8-1-11) clip on Saturday.
No. 9 UC Irvine will close out the regular season with a home and away series against No. 3 UC Santa Barbara this Friday and Saturday.
