'Eaters Celebrate Senior Day

| By:
IRVINE, Calif.- The UC Irvine women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Cal State Fullerton, Saturday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The 'Eaters celebrated their two seniors, Stephanie Hazell and Danielle Garrido after the match.

UCI moves to 13-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play. CSF improves to 12-5 on the season and 4-2 in the Big West.

Quote from Head Coach Elizabeth Ferris:

"We want to thank everybody for showing up to the match and supporting our team and our seniors. It's one of the best crowds we ever had. We also want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Tilbury, and Mr. and Mrs. Hazell for providing food and refreshments for everyone. That was very generous and thoughtful, and created a really fun ambiance. As far as the match goes, I know we were all excited to play Fullerton. They're one of the best teams in our conference. What this match showed is that we cannot wait to play into the match. We have to find a way to be totally focused from the start and capitalize early. We have another great challenge to look forward to tomorrow!"

Quote from Danielle Garrido:

"Tennis has been a big part of my life and I am so thankful for the opportunity to continue my tennis career here at UCI alongside some of the greatest people I have ever met, like Dana and Flora. We played a solid team today, but unfortunately we had a slow start despite our good performance. I think we had good attitudes and energy coming in and hopefully we can pull it together and come in strong for tomorrow's match. I'm glad people were able to show up and support us on our senior day. Zot zot zot!"

Quote from Stephanie Hazell:

"Today was a tough start in both singles and doubles but I felt that everyone did a great job giving everything they got and left it all out on the court. It was very special having friends and family out supporting me today for senior day. Thank you to all the juniors for making today so nice!"
