
Four Anteaters Earn All-Big West Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – Four UC Irvine men's volleyball players were named to Big West All-Conference teams, highlighted by first team selections Joel Schneidmiller and Karl Apfelbach.
Schneidmiller leads the league in service aces and is ranked fourth nationally with a 0.55 average. He is second in the Big West in points (4.56), third in kills (3.71) as well as sixth in hitting percentage (.326). The sophomore outside hitter has led UCI in kills on 14 occasions, including a career-high 28 kills which are the most in the league this season. Schneidmiller, who was named Freshman of the Year in 2018, is one of only two sophomores to be named to the first-team.
Apfelbach earns his second consecutive first team accolade after averaging 2.94 kills and 3.75 points, which rank 10th and eighth respectively in the conference. He is sixth in service aces with a 0.40 mark, moving in to 10th all-time in UCI aces with 89 currently. The senior opposite also ranks eighth among Big West players in hitting percentage at .305.
Middle blocker Scott Stadick was named to the honorable mention team. He is second in the league in blocks, averaging 1.18 per set. His 10 total blocks against Grand Canyon are tops the league this year and second most in a three-set match nationally. Stadick also averages 1.66 kills, while hitting .399.
Alexandre Nsakanda came on strong at the end of the year and was named to the All-Freshman Team. He averaged 1.67 kills and 2.01 points in 20 matches this season. He has recorded double-figure kills five times this season, including a career-high 14 kills at BYU.
