USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List

DURHAM, N.C. --- USA Baseball has unveiled their midseason watch list for the coveted Golden Spikes Award featuring an Anteater in junior third baseman Brandon Lewis.

Lewis' inclusion on the list makes him the second Anteater in the last three years joining Keston Hiura in 2017 to earn midseason honors. Andrew Morales was another midseason member on the 2014 squad.

Lewis is leading the Anteaters and Big West in many major offensive categories with his 11 home runs, 37 RBIs, 13 doubles, and a slugging percentage of .773 which ranks 11th in the NCAA.

He joins a list of 40 college baseball standouts earning midseason recognition for the heralded 42nd Golden Spikes Award as the lone representative from the Big West Conference. Teammate Andre Pallante was under consideration on the preseason list as well.

The list will be trimmed to 20 semifinalists on May 15 where fans will be able to vote for their favorite to be amongst the finalists announced on May 29 with the award given out on June 14.
