IRVINE, Calif. -Β The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team makes its way back to Seattle this weekend for the MPSF Indoor Championships, Feb. 22-23. The 27th annual meet will be held at Dempsey Indoor for the 17th consecutive season.

Competition gets underway with the women's weight throw Friday at noon. A full day of events is then slated for Saturday, beginning with the women's high jump at 10 a.m. The Anteaters will go up against some of the nation's best with five teams ranked among the top-25. Highlighting the field are No. 2 USC, No. 3 Oregon and No. 9 Stanford.
STORYLINES
β’ UC Irvine's current student-athletes occupy 26 spots on the program's all-time charts.
β’ Thirteen of those top-10 marks have been established this year.
β’ Senior Barbara Coward set a school-record 57-05.75 in the weight throw at the Lumberjack Team Challenge.
β’ Coward topped UCI's three-year old standard by over a foot and improved her personal best by 2 feet, 5.5 inches.
β’ Junior Brianna Villanueva (56-01) and senior Alison Meegan (52-03.75) are also second and fourth, respectively.
β’ Villanueva has set a new PR in every meet this year with an overall improvement of 6 feet, 8.5 inches.
β’ Coward, Villanueva and Meegan are three of only four Anteaters to surpass 50 feet in the weight throw.
β’ Freshman Zani Meaders ran the second-fastest 400m in program history at the UW Invitational (56.53).
β’ Meaders was one-hundredth of a second off the school record of 56.52 established by Simone Buchanan in 2016.
β’ At the Don Kirby Invite, junior Tatyana Hamlett had a triple jump PR of 38-02.75 to move up to No. 3 in school history.
β’ In her collegiate debut, freshman Lorraine Nance also cracked UC Irvine's top-five at 38-01.25.
β’ Sophomore Natalie Koppel entered the school's top-10 in the long jump with a leap of 17-11.75.
β’ Senior Mychal Robinson, who was already third in program history in the 60H, had a PR 8.61 in the season opener.
β’ Senior Hope Bushnell sits at No. 2 in both the 60m (7.57) and 200m (24.50).
β’ Sophomore Mikayla Scott is also among the Anteaters' top-five in the 200m and 400m.

β’ Brianna Villanueva was 15th in the weight throw with a personal-record 56-01, moving her up to No. 2 all-time at UCI.

β’ Hamlett climbed five spots to No. 3 in indoor school history.
β’ Hope Bushnell established a season-best 24.98 in the 200m.
