UC Irvine Starts Season Ranked No. 8

IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine opens the 2020 season ranked eighth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason poll.
The Anteaters, who received 127 votes, ended last season with an 18-11 overall record and No. 8 final ranking.
Hawaii claimed the top spot with 14 first place votes and 238 points followed by UCLA (197), BYU (185), Long Beach State (182) and UC Santa Barbara (170).
This season, UCI will face 12 of the top 15 teams in the poll as well as three teams that are receiving votes, starting with No. 10 Princeton on Dec. 29 at the Bren Events Center.
The Anteaters have started the year ranked in the nation's top 10 each of the last 15 years.
