MALIBU, Calif. – UC Irvine dropped a 14-10 overtime decision to San Jose State in the fifth-place game of the Golden Coast Conference Tournament, Saturday morning.

UCI finishes the season with a 7-13 record. SJSU finished in fifth place with a 7-19 overall record.

The Spartans outscored UCI 5-1 in the overtime periods to seal the 14-10 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Casey Lynton, Jason Evezard and Bryant Joudrie each recorded two goals. Joudrie also dished out a team-best three assists
> Grant Chiponis, Jon Polos, Zlatan Nikocevic and Chad Gornay contributed one goal apiece
> Harrison Land finished with nine saves and a steal in 38 minutes of action in goal
> SJSU won all six sprints while UCI held a 33-31 advantage in shots

> Things got off to a heated start as SJSU would convert a five-meter penalty shot at 6:04 before Lynton fired in a good five-meter penalty shot at 3:48
> The teams exchanged powerplay goals to head into the second quarter tied, 2-2
> Polos scored on the powerplay at 2:15 off a pass from Nikocevic

Quarter Two
> SJSU would score first in the quarter before Evezard added a goal at 3:18 to make it 4-4
> The Spartans converted on a five-meter penalty at 2:48. Joudrie scored unassisted at 2:18 to keep the game knotted, 5-5
> A last minute goal from SJSU's Michael Burgess gave the Spartans a slight 6-5 edge at the half

Quarter Three
> Joudrie fed Lynton a pass who fired in a goal to open the third quarter, 6-6 (6:01)
> SJSU scored before UCI notched back-to-back goals from Chiponis and Evezard to take a 7-6 lead at 2:44
> The Spartans' Finn Pardon scored with 1:29 remaining to tie the game, 7-7, heading into the fourth quarter

Quarter Four
> The deadlock continued as both teams exchanged back and forth goals to make it 9-9 after regulation
> Gornay scored at 4:03 before the Spartans answered with a goal at 3:28
> Lynton found Nikocevic who threaded one past the SJSU defense for a goal at 1:24 to send the game to overtime

Overtime
> SJSU out-scored UCI 4-1 in six minutes of overtime to seal the 14-10 victory
> Joudrie would score the 'Eaters lone overtime goal at 1:14 off a pass from Evezard
