CLEVELAND, Ohio – UC Irvine snapped a three-match losing streak with a 3-0 victory (25-10, 26-24, 25-22) over Cleveland State at the CSU Invitational Friday.

The Anteaters are 2-5 overall while the host Vikings go to 4-3 on the year.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>UCI hit a season-high .239 (45-17-117), while holding CSU to a season-low .067 (26-19-104)
>Senior Harlee Kekauoha returned after being sidelined for a week and recorded a season-high 13 kills to go with eight digs
>Outside hitter Loryn Carter matched Kekauoha for the team lead with 13 kills
>Senior setter Ali Koumelis recorded her second double-double of the year with 34 set assists and 10 digs. She also added three kills and three blocks
>The lone Viking with double-digit kills was Rachel Stover with 10

TURNING POINTS
SET 1
>Harlee Kekauoha and Abby Marjama each had a pair of kills in an early 5-1 run to put the Anteaters in front 9-4
>A 7-0 spurt, capped by a Marjama ace put the set out of reach, 16-6
>UCI would score the final three points of the set, the last two on back-to-back kills by Kekauoha for a 25-10 victory
>Kekuaoha, who missed last week due to an injury, came back strong with five kills on seven attempts (.714)

SET 2
>The Anteaters scored three in a row with the help of two Viking attack errors to sneak out to a 9-5 lead
>CSU would catch UCI at 13-13, but the Anteaters responded on kills by Makayla Wolfe and Idara Akpakpa and an ace by Loryn Carter, 16-13
>The next three points would be UCI attack errors setting the score even at 16-16
>The teams would stay within a point before UCI made a move on a CSU attack error and a kill by Kekauoha, 22-20
>UCI held set point on an Idara Akpakpa kill, 24-22 but back-to-back Anteater attack errors kept Cleveland State alive, 24-24
>A kill by Kekauoha and a Viking attack error ended the set, 26-24

SET 3
>A 5-1 run that included Kekauoha's first ace of the season gave UCI the 7-4 advantage
>Kekuaoha had two more kills in a string of five straight Anteater points which pushed the gap to 13-6 forcing a CSU timeout
>The Vikings would rally on five unanswered points to tie the score at 16-16 and turn the tables to go up 18-17 on a kill by Kelly Stover
>UCI used a kill by Wolfe, a CSU error, a kill by Ali Koumelis and consecutive aces by Wolfe moved the Anteaters in front 24-20
>Following a CSU kill, Carter put away the match-winner, 25-22

NOTES
>Libero Haley DeSales continued to rack up the digs, recording a match-high 18 digs
>Abby Marjama had one ace, adding on to her league-leading total of 19
>Makalya Wolfe led the squad with four total blocks and continues to top the squad with a 1.19 average over 27 sets
>UCI is 2-1 against the Vikings all-time
