Champions, MVPs Emerge from 2018 Summer Action

| By:
IRVINE, Calif. --- A throng of Anteaters were sent out across the states extending their 2018 seasons into the summer. From the summer baseball came three league titles, a pair of all-star selections, and an MVP award among the Anteaters.

The most decorated Anteater from the summer turned out to be incoming junior transfer Brandon Lewis who led the California Collegiate League in HR, RBI, and batting to take home league MVP honors. Lewis earned a starting spot at third base in the league's All-Star Game, and eventually help his squad, the Conejo Oaks, to its first CCL Championship. Lewis later joined up with the Santa Barbara Foresters alongside future Anteater and teammate John Jensen to take home the squad's seventh National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series title.

Other champions crowned across their summer leagues include the West Coast League champions Corvallis Knights equipped with Anteater left-hander Miles Glazier and Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League champions Jamestown Jammers led in the outfield by Dailin Lee. Others reached the championship, like Johnny Pacheco with the Great West League's Lincoln Potters, but could not bring home a title. More Anteaters shone taking home individual awards such as Michael Frias earning all-league accolades with the WCL's Portland Pickles and all-league honors for Trenton Denholm who did not allow a run with Yarmouth-Dennis of the Cape Cod League.

A full recap of Anteater performances are shown below as the fall season for UC Irvine approaches:
