IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine blanked Southern Utah 3-0 (25-14, 25-21,25-19) in the final non-conference match of the season at the Bren Events Center.
UCI extends its winning streak to three in a row and evens the season record at 6-6. Southern Utah falls to 1-11 overall.
COACH ASHLIE HAIN SAID
"We passed the ball well today which let us spread the offense around."
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Opposite Harlee Kekauoha hit a blistering .538 (15-1-26), recording a season-high 15 kills
>As a team, UCI out-hit SUU .303 to .115. The Anteaters' .303 hitting percentage is the best of the season
>Southern Utah was led by Janet Kalaniuvalu with eight kills

>Three kills and an ace by Harlee Kekaouha helped UCI out to an early 12-4 lead
>An Anteater service error started a 4-0 run for Southern Utah to close to 16-9, but a kill by Kekauoha and two from Loryn Carter pushed the lead back to a comfortable 19-9
>UCI would score the final two points to win the set
>The Anteaters hit .522 (14-2-23), while SUU hit .034 (8-7-29)

>The teams remained close until SUU had two aces, two blocks and a kill to take an 18-15 lead
>UCI rallied with the next four on kills by Koumelis, Carter and Kekauoha (2) to move in front 19-18
