Five Things to Know: Keely Boyd
August 29, 2018 | Women's Cross Country
IRVINE, Calif. - Family-oriented and always willing to give back, junior Keely Boyd's strong character leads her to success on and off the course. Let her tell you more about her hobbies and skills away from cross country.
TALK TO THE HAND
Before college, I was completely fluent in American Sign Language. Since coming to UC Irvine, I have not used it as much but could definitely hold a conversation with a deaf person.
FRESH FEEDING
I work at Fresh Basic Needs Hub on the UC Irvine campus. This is a food bank which allows students to receive groceries on campus for free. In a recent study done by Global Food Initiative: Food and Housing Security at the University of California, it was found that 44 percent of undergraduate students and 26 percent of graduate students had experienced food insecurity. Fresh offers services to help relieve students in those positions.
MASTER CHEF
I love to cook. I have made up many recipes but my friends and family enjoy eating my homemade granola and banana bread the most.
MOTHERLY MOTIVATION
During the summer, my mom does almost all of my pre-season training with me. It really helps keeps me motivated and helps me look forward to tough summer miles.
TUSK LOVER
My favorite animals are elephants. They are so big and beautiful!
