May 07, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Irvine head women's volleyball coach Ashlie Hain announced that Camille Davey and Abby Marjama have joined the Anteaters spring quarter.
Davey is a transfer from Nevada with two years of eligibility remaining. The 5-8 libero led the Wolf Pack last year with a 3.55 dig average. She recorded double-figure digs in 20 of 25 matches last season and was named to the All-Mountain West academic team as a freshman. Davey, a graduate of San Clemente High School, played for Laguna Beach Volleyball club.
"Camille will come in and help right away strengthening our serve receive and defense," Hain said. "She is a competitor and fits our gym culture very well."
Marjama is an early arrival from Granite Bay High School where she was a first-team all-league honoree. The 6-0 outside hitter played for Northern California Volleyball Club and was a member of the USA A-1 team. Her father, Greg, was a member of the UC Irvine track team, while her brother Mike plays professional baseball for the Seattle Mariners.
"Abby is an enthusiastic and smart volleyball player. She has a heavy arm and can score in different ways," Hain added.
The Anteaters were 24-8 overall last year, advancing to the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
