UCI Finishes Strong at Beach Invitational

Results

LONG BEACH, Calif - The UC Irvine men's track & field team concluded a busy weekend with the second and final day of the Beach Invitational at Jack Rose Track on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Andres Woodruff ran a personal-record 53.98 to place 12th overall in the 400m hurdles. He improved his lifetime best by .13 seconds. Freshmen Kyle Sandoval (57.29) and Ian Ward (57.87) were also 42nd and 45th, respectively.
 
Junior Asa Allen notched his second top-10 finish of the weekend as he tied for seventh in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.38 seconds.
 
Junior Brandon Lucas (21.91) led a quartet of 'Eaters in the 200m with a 12th-place performance. Lucas edged out Allen, who was 13th at 21.92 seconds. Senior Michael Hamill came in 46th (22.70), while he also ran the 100m (11.31).
 
Junior Paul Resong was 21st out of 92 in the 400m (48.31).
 
In the field events, junior Omar Valenzuela placed 40th in the discus with a toss of 160-07, and senior Jon Dickinson was 55th in the shot put (46-11.5).
 
UC Irvine returns to Anteater Stadium this weekend to host the Steve Scott Invitational, April 27-28.
