TORRANCE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team came away with a victory in the 4x100 relay Friday at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays at Murdock Stadium in Torrance.

Persis William-Mensah, junior
Julia Sambvani and freshman
Mikayla Scott combined to win the 4x100 in 45.23 seconds.

William-Mensah added a fourth-place finish in a field of 47 in the 100m. The Costa Mesa native matched her personal and school record time of 11.51 despite running into a 0.7 headwind. Bushnell was also 12th (11.85), while Scott came in 26th (12.12).

Sambvani had a top-20 showing in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 62.34 to place 18th overall.

Tyra Jones took 19th in the 100m hurdles at 14.06 seconds, and junior
Mychal Robinson wasn't far behind in 23rd (14.13). Jones also ran the 100H in Long Beach on Thursday where she notched a wind-aided season-best 13.77.

Simone Buchanan finished 31st in the 400m with a time of 56.42.

On the first day of the Beach Invitational at LBSU's Jack Rose Track, junior
Adrienne Lee tied for eighth in the pole vault, clearing 11-09.75. Freshman
Bryn Hyde also reached a season-best 10-04 to come in 26th.

Barbara Coward led the 'Eaters in the hammer throw as she was 25th out of 79 competitors with a toss of 179-04. Senior
Alison Meegan took 40th at 170-11, and sophomore
Brianna Villanueva placed 63rd at 140-01.

Tatyana Hamlett recorded a lifetime-best 16-07.75 for an 11th-place performance in the long jump.
Over in Azusa, six middle distance runners competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Freshman
Emily Bonilla made her season debut in the 800m, finishing in 2:27.16. Sophomore
Brenda Dorantes paced five Anteaters in the 1500m, clocking in at 4:52.76. Sophomore
Fiora Chan (5:08.97), freshman
Fiona De Rego (5:10.85), junior
Veronica Lopez (5:31.13) and freshman
Amy Flores (5:31.18) also ran the 1500.
