Nine Anteaters Compete in Two Meets on Thursday

Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Results

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team competed at both the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in Long Beach and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa on Thursday.
 
Junior Omar Valenzuela led the 'Eaters at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate with a 13th-place finish in the discus. He notched a personal-record 169-01, which was just six inches shy of the No. 10 mark in program history.
 
Senior Jon Dickinson added a pair of top-20 performances in the hammer (151-07) and discus (46-02).
 
On the track, junior Paul Resong took 13th in the 200m with a lifetime-best 22.32, despite running into a slight headwind. Freshman Tariq Harness was also 21st (23.00).
 
Senior Michael Hamill placed 21st in the 100m (11.08), while sophomore Alan Tantiwassadakran came in 22nd in the 110m hurdles with a season-best 15.48.
 
At the Bryan Clay Invitational (Live Results), senior Izzak Mireles finished 14th in Heat 4 of the 5000m with a season-best 14:43.53. Freshman Ravi Sharma also took 10th out of 38 runners in Heat 9. He clocked in at 15:32.57, shaving over 30 seconds off his previous season best. Junior Jon Rodriguez competed in the steeplechase (9:50.03).
 
UCI returns to action tomorrow at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach.
