IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine had 11 players score in the Anteaters' 87-53 win over Life Pacific, Monday night at the Bren Events Center.
 
UCI scored 53 of its season-high 87 points off the bench on its way to a 3-0 record. Life Pacific goes to 2-2 on the year.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>UCI was led by Robert Cartwright and Collin Welp's 15 points, a career-high for each player
>Jonathan Galloway tied his career-best with a game-high 14 rebounds to go with a career-tying 11 points, also marking the fourth double-double of his career
> 11 different Anteaters scored at least two points
>JC Butler made his debut for UCI tonight, scoring four points
> UCI held advantages in rebounds (50-24), blocks (6-1) and steals (12-9), however the Anteaters committed 20 turnovers to the Warriors' 19
> The 'Eaters shot 54.7% (29-53) from the floor and held LPC to just 30.4% (17-56). UCI went 7-of-18 (.389) from three-point range as Max Hazzard and Cartwright had two each from behind the arc
> UCI out-scored LPC in the paint (42-12) and off the bench (53-18)
> The Warriors' Chez Lister had a team-best 15 points including two made three-pointers
 
TURNING POINTS
FIRST HALF
> UCI got on the board first but LPC answered with a 3-pointer to take its only lead of the game, 3-2
> The 'Eaters went on a 7-0 lead to take a lead they would not relinquish to go up, 11-3, with 17:25 to play
> UCI's best scoring run of the half came at 14:50 when Tommy Rutherford jump started a nine-point run to give the 'Eaters a 25-6 advantage with 10:47 to play
> The Anteaters capped the half scoring six-straight points to make it 46-20 heading into the locker rooms
> Collin Welp and Jonathan Galloway led the 'Eaters at the half way point with nine points each
 
SECOND HALF
>UCI scored the first nine points of the half to extend the gap to 55-20
> The Anteaters earned their largest lead of the game at the 12:18 mark, going up by 41 points, 70-29, after Spencer Rivers made a three-pointer followed by a layup from Welp
> The Warriors responded with a 10-point run to narrow the gap, 72-42, at 7:20
>UCI stretched the lead to 84-43 with 3:29 to play before LPC out-scored the 'Eaters 8-3 down the stretch. 
> Cartwright had 10 points including two three-pointers and four made free throws

"I am happy to win. It was an emotional turnaround from Friday night's win over Texas A&M and now we are 3-0 to start the season and that's a good feeling. I knew we would have the chance to play a lot of guys tonight and I thought they all played well. We will learn from this experience and gear up for Santa Clara on Thursday."
