Box Score NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Resiliency was once again the name of the game as UC Irvine defeated CSUN 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-23) at the Matadome.

The Anteaters, who rallied from a 10-point deficit in the first set, improved to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the Big West. CSUN is 6-11 on the year and 2-3 in league action.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Reigning Big West Freshman of the Week Abby Marjama led UCI with nine kills
>Loryn Carter and Idara Akpakpa each pitched in eight kills
>Setter Ali Koumelis had a double-double with 27 set assists and 10 digs
>CSUN's Aeryn Owens had a match-high 12 kills to go with 10 digs

TURNING POINTS
SET 1
>The Matadors would hold a 9-5 lead, out-hitting UCI .545 to 0.71 early in the first set
>CSUN would expand the lead to 16-6 on a Kristey Markle ace
>UCI would rally on a 8-1 streak, which included three Loryn Carter kills, inching to 17-14
>An ace by Harlee Kekauoha and kill by Abby Marjama got the Anteaters within 21-19
>A Carter kill was followed by four straight Matador errors, the last a block by Idara Akpakpa and Ali Koumelis and to complete the incredible comeback 25-23

SET 2
>A 4-1 start for UCI that included an ace by Carter was quickly erased by a CSUN ace, 4-4
>Two CSUN errors and an ace by Marjama put the Anteaters on top 10-6
>UCI led 12-7 when CSUN scored five of the next six points to close within 13-12
>Koumelis would set the ball in to the deep right corner for a point then a Haley DeSales had an ace and CSUN had ball-handling error, 18-13
>Three in a row gave UCI a 23-15 lead and after a Matador kill, CSUN had an attack error and Wolfe recorded an ace for the set winner 25-16
>UCI got hot from the service line, firing five aces in the set

SET 3
>A pair of kills and an ace gave CSUN a 14-10 lead
>With the Matadors leading 15-11, UCI used a Carter kill, a solo block by Marjama, a CSUN attack error and an ace by Carter to tie the set at 15-15 and force a timeout, 15-15
>Out of the break, a Marjama kill and a CSUN ball-handling error extended the streak and put UCI in the lead 17-15
>The Matadors would score the next two and the teams were deadlocked again at 17-17
>After both teams scored a point, Wolfe recorded a kill and a solo block, 20-18 only to watch CSUN score the next three to take a 21-20 advantage
>At 22-22, a Matador attack error and a kill by Kekauoha gave UCI set point, 24-22. Following a CSUN kill a kill by Carter ended the set 25-23

NOTES
>UCI has won three in a row and seven of the last eight matches
>It's the sixth time UCI has swept an opponent this season
>Makayla Wolfe had two aces against the Matadors and five over two matches this weekend
>Libero Haley DeSales had a match-best 13 digs. She has recorded double-figure digs in all but one match this season
