IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's cross country team will make the short trek to Brea for the 2018 Big West Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27. The 8000-meter race is set for an 8:45 a.m. start at Carbon Canyon Regional Park. Parking is $5 and live results will be available at FinishedResults.com.
STORYLINES
• The Big West Championships will be held at Carbon Canyon Regional Park for the first time since 1993.
• Twenty-five years ago, UCI finished fifth as a team, while Daniel Galindo placed fourth individually.
• The 'Eaters opened the 2018 season at Carbon Canyon with the Mark Covert Classic 8K on Sept. 1.
• The Anteaters have won nine conference titles, but their last one came back in 1991.
• UC Irvine finished fifth at the 2017 Big West Championships, just three points behind fourth-place UC Davis.

• Hector Garcia (25:24.48) led the 'Eaters for the third time in four races this season, taking 32nd out of 250.
• Sam Ayala was next to cross the finish line, clocking in at 25:35.61 to place 41st.
• It was only Ayala's second meet of the season as he missed the first two with an injury.
• Ashton Garcia registered a time of 25:36.87 (44th) to round out UCI's top-three performers.
• Freshman Sebastian Bautista established a personal record, finishing at 25:53.42 (61st).
