In the lone match of the week, UCI will travel to UC Davis Saturday (Oct. 20) for a 7:00 p.m. match at The Pavilion.
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
UC Davis is 11-9 overall and 3-5 in the Big West.
The Aggies are riding a two-match winning streak with victories over Cal State Fullerton (3-0) and UC Riverside (3-2) last week.
UC Davis ranks second among Big West teams in dig average, collecting 17.18 per set. The Anteaters are fifth (15.46).
LAST MEETING
UCI beat UC Davis 3-0 on Sept. 28 at the Bren Events Center.
The Anteaters hit a season-best .500 (47-5-84), committing just five errors in the match.
Idara Akpakpa led the way with nine kills on nine attempts for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. Makayla Wolfe also hit a season-best .643 (9-0-14), while Abby Marjama tied her career-high with 15 kills, while setting a new best with a .520 clip (15-2-25).
Emily Allen paced the Aggies with seven kills and five digs. UC David hit .040 as a team (23-19-99).
ANOTHER KIND OF SWEEP
The Anteaters swept the Big West Player of the Week honors with Ali Koumelis was named Player of the Week, libero Haley DeSales honored as Defensive Player of the Week and Abby Marjama tabbed Freshman of the Week.
Koumelis captured her first career Player of the Week award, averaging 10.50 assists per set in a pair of conference sweeps. The senior racked up 63 assists over the two matches and directed the UCI offense to a .340 (44-9-103) hitting percentage against the Titans, the second best offensive performance of the year. She had 28 assists versus CSF, then added 35 more against the Highlanders. She also added 11 digs against UCR to cement her eighth double-double of the year.
DeSales became a first time recipient of the Defensive Player of the Week award after averaging 6.67 digs over six sets last week. The senior notched 19 digs against the Titans, then had 21 more versus the Highlanders. The 21 scoops against UCR is the second-most in a three-set match this season.
Marjama was recognized as the conference's top freshman for the third time in the last four weeks. The outside hitter posted back-to-back double-doubles, including a team-best 12 kills to go along with 10 digs and two block assists against Cal State Fullerton. It was the seventh time this year she had led the squad in kills.
ABOUT THE ANTEATERS
UCI is 12-7 overall and 6-1 in Big West action.
Head coach Ashlie Hain's club is 4-1 on the road in 2018.

Outside hitter Loryn Carter leads UCI with a 2.93 kill average. The sophomore has led the Anteaters in kills seven times and has recorded double-figure kills in 12 matches this year.
Opposite Harlee Kekauoha and outside hitter Abby Marjama are tied for second in kill average with a 2.51 mark.
Marjama ranks 13th nationally in ace average, 0.50.
IN THE MIDDLE
Senior Idara Akpakpa and junior Makayla Wolfe anchor UCI in the middle.
Akpakpa is third in the Big West in blocks (1.06) and fourth in hitting percentage (.334). The senior is fourth on the team with a 2.22 kill average.
Wolfe leads the squad and is third in the conference in hitting percentage at .347. She also averages 1.93 kills and 0.88 blocks.
DIGGING MACHINE
Senior Haley DeSales leads the Big West with 4.84 digs per set. The libero has recorded digs in double-figures in all but one match this season and has recorded 20 or more kills seven times.
