PALO ALTO, Calif. - The 12th-ranked UC Irvine men's water polo team concluded the MPSF Invite with a 17-10 win over Loyola Marymount in the 11th-place match Sunday in Palo Alto.

With the win, UCI improves to 7-9 on the season. The 'Eaters finished the weekend 2-2. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
> Jason Evezard finished with a career and game-high seven goals 
> Jack Trush finished with a hat trick, scoring three goals while Sven Davidson and Bryant Joudrie had two goals apiece
> Byron Rivers made nine saves in goal
> UCI won all four sprints

TURNING POINTS
> UCI jumped out to a quick, 3-0, lead before LMU scored to make it 3-1 after the first quarter
> The Anteaters extended their lead scoring three more to open up the second quarter, 6-1
> The Lions notched a goal with 4:55 to play in the second frame but UCI fired in two more goals to take an 8-2 advantage into the half
> UCI added five more goals in the third quarter to break open the lead, 13-5, as Evezard scored twice in the frame
> The Lions tallied four goals early in the fourth quarter to make it, 14-9, with 4:20 left to play
> UCI answered scoring three goals down the stretch to seal the 17-10 win

> UCI is 2-0 against LMU this season and 19-8 all-time against the Lions
> The Anteaters finished in 11th place at the Invitational while USC was crowned the top team
