RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's soccer stays unbeaten in Big West equalizing in the second half to draw with UC Riverside, 1-1, Thursday night at UCR Soccer Field.
For the fourth straight match, the Anteaters (7-5-2, 3-0-1) played into double overtime dueling with UC Riverside (10-1-3, 1-1-2) for all 110 minutes for the second draw of the season for UCI.
The Highlanders were on the attack early outshooting the 'Eaters, 6-3, in the first half, and made the sixth shot count. Darielle O'Brien put a goal in for the Highlanders in the 44th minute taking the momentum into the half and a 1-0 lead.
The defense rose up in the second half looking to hold the Anteaters back, but
Shelby Lee found a way to put home one of the 'Eaters' two shots in the second half.
Kelsee Pottorff fed Lee in the 72nd minute and got enough on her shot to put it in off UCR keeper Laura Perjanik's mitts to tie things up, 1-1.
The match entering overtime despite UCI owning the corner kicks with seven to UCR's zero. UCI added four shots in the overtime period, one more than in their first 90 minutes, but neither side could find a golden goal finishing in a 1-1 draw.

Maddie Newsom each finished with five saves as UCI turned six of its nine shots on frame.
Lee has now accounted for a goal in each of the last three matches. Pottorff's assist is her third in her career and she's registered points in two of the last three matches.
The Anteaters stay on top of the Big West halfway through with 10 points. The road trip rolls along with the final match of the week on Sunday, Oct. 14, at UC Davis for a 2:00 p.m. start.
