MALIBU, Calif. -- UCI scored six goals in the first period and never looked back in a 15-8 victory over No. 18 Loyola Marymount at the Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool Saturday.

UCI went 2-0 today at the GCC vs WWPA Challenge Cup and improve to 4-2 overall.

Senior Lovre Milos posted a season-high five goals to go with two assists to lead the Anteaters.

Junior Jack Trush had a season-high three goals, while Robby Stiefel and Fynn Schuetze each totaled two goals with Stiefel tallying a team-best five assists. Antoine Lena, Jack Baumgardner and Carlos Silverstre also recorded goals for UCI.

Matej Matijevic played three periods and had 10 saves before Bryon Rivers closed out the final eight minutes with three saves.

Alessio Brunocelli paced the Lions with two goals.

Lovre Milos had a goal to start (6:57) and end (0:50) the first period. In between, Jack Trush (3:58), Fynn Schuetze (2:13), Robby Stiefel (1:54) and Jack Baumgardner (0:59) added goals to begin the game with a 6-0 lead.

Milos would start the second period where he left off with a goal at 7:35. Jack Trush would notch his second goal on a power play at 5:54 to bring the score to 8-0. The Lions got on the scoreboard at 4:46, before Stiefel added another goal at 4:29. The Lions would score at 1:45 and 0:32 to head in to the half with UCI holding the 9-3 advantage.

Who else but Milos to open the third period with goal at 7:04. Antoine Lena would hit the back of the net at 6:10 after a LMU goal at 6:26. Another Lion score at 5:25 proceeded another Milos goal at 3:35 to extend the Anteater cushion to 12-5. LMU responded quickly with a goal at 3:17 before Jack Trush recorded a hat trick at 2:34, 13-6.  Carlos Silverstre recorded his first goal as an Anteater (0:51) to close the period, 14-6.

The Lions had a power play goal at 6:49 then one at even strength at 4:15. Schuetze ended the scoring with a goal at 2:31 on a pass from Milos.

UCI returns to action against Concordia next Friday (Sept. 15) in the home opener at the Anteater Aquatics Center beginning at 7:00 p.m.
