IRVINE, Calif. –
Jack Trush and
Lovre Milos each dominated one half in No. 10 UC Irvine's 16-4 victory over Concordia at the Anteater Aquatics Center Friday night.
In the Anteaters' home opener,
Jack Trush fired his career-high tying five goals in the first half, while Milos scored his five in the second half. Milos also added two assists and two steals.
The Anteaters have won four in a row and improve to 5-2 overall. Concordia goes to 6-4 on the year.
Fynn Schuetze,
Kyle Trush,
Ian Fleenor,
Antoine Lena,
Ryan Warde and
Robby Stiefel also posted goals in the win for UCI.
Angel Rojas scored three of Concordia's four goals.
Fynn Schuetze started the scoring at 7:36 on a pass from
Lovre Milos. Concordia tied it up at 4:55 before
Jack Trush began his scoring at 3:02 taking a pass from his brother Kyle, giving UCI a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Trush took over the second period scoring back to back goals at 6:37 and 5:00, assisted each time by
Brendan Duffy.
Ian Fleenor took a pass down the right side and scored at 3:16 to make it 6-1 before
Jack Trush scored again with 2:00 on the clock this time with an assist from Milos.
Ryan Warde ended the half with a goal just under a minute to go (:59) to extend the Anteater advantage to 8-1 at the half.
In the third period, Concordia's Joshua Mundell had a goal at 7:04 then
Antoine Lena answered back at 5:57, 9-2. Milos would put away a pair of goals at 5:20 and 4:02 for UCI and Angel Rojas had two goals for the Eagles at 2:05 and 0:54 to end the period with UCI leading 11-4.
Kyle Trush would record his first goal of the season at 6:50 before Milos caught fire scoring three consecutive goals (4:13, 3:10, 2:45).
Robby Stiefel would streak down the right side with 44 seconds left to end the scoring, 16-4.
UCI will participate in the MPSF Invitational next Friday-Sunday (Sept. 22-24) hosted by USC.
