Mary Brooks Reunites With Dan Klatt At World University Games

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine senior-to-be Mary Brooks was named to the United States Women's Water Polo roster for the World University Games held in Taipei next month.

Brooks joins UCI head coach Dan Klatt who will lead the 13-player roster in competition beginning August 19 against France. Team USA will also take on Argentina, Australia, Italy and Greece in group play.

The 29th Summer World University Games will be held in Taipei, Aug. 19-30, with over 120 countries competing in 22 sports. The World University Games are held every other year and are organized by the International University Sports Federation.  The event is a multi-sport competition open to men and women between the ages of 17 and 24, and who have been, within the past year, a student at a college or university.

Brooks is a three-time All-American who has been named Big West Player of the Year the last two seasons. She led the Anteaters with 66 goals as UCI won its sixth Big West title and advanced to the NCAA Championship for fifth time in seven years.

Most recently, Brooks was a member of the USA Water Polo Women's Senior National Team that won gold at the FINA World League Super Final as well as capturing gold at the Kunshan Cup in Kunshan, China.
