WENG'AN, XIAOTAO & JIAHE, China - Shereen Sutherland was selected as a member of the NetScouts Basketball USA All-Stars that traveled to China to compete in the Four Nations Tournament, April 28-May 8.
The team, organized and coached by NetScouts Basketball, played in three cities with a total of nine games against the national teams of China and Lithuania, as well as an All-Star team from Canada. They played three round-robin games in Weng'an (April 28-30), Xiaotao (May 2-4) and Jiahe (May 6-8).
The USA All-Stars (7-2) closed out the final leg of the tour by defeating China, 84-68, in front of a crowd of 3,122 at the Jiahe Municipal Auditorium on May 8. The Americans also topped Lithuania, 74-68, and Canada, 98-61, to go 3-0 in Jiahe and claim a share of the overall Four Nations Tournament title along with China (7-2). Sutherland had her best outing against Canada where she finished with 16 points and six rebounds, while she added 11 points in the win over Lithuania.
The U.S. went 2-1 on each of the first two legs of the tour with its losses coming to China.
Over the course of the tournament, Sutherland averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Sutherland recently graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in sociology. She finished her senior season averaging a career-best 11.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per outing. Over her three-year Anteater career, Sutherland totaled 832 points (9.1 ppg), 492 rebounds (5.4 rpg), 40 blocks and 40 steals.
