Record Setting Weekend Propels Mary Brooks To Anteater of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. -- Women's water polo player Mary Brooks has been named this week's Buffalo Wild Wings Anteater of the week after her performance at the Big West Championships.

The junior had an outstanding performance to lead No. 1 UC Irvine to a 14-2 victory over No. 4 UC Davis in a semifinal of the conference tournament. Brooks set a Big West Tournament record with six goals, tying her career-high while adding two assists and two steals in the win.

In the final against Long Beach State, Brooks continued her torrid scoring pace with four more goals and an assist on the game-winning overtime goal. After the contest Brooks was named Tournament MVP as her 10 goals set a Big West Tournament record.

Brooks was also named the Big West Player of the Year for a consecutive year, only the second player to accomplish the feat. She leads the Anteaters with 63 goals this season and is second in the Big West with 2.17 goals per game average.
