UC Irvine in Sixth at Big West Tournament

 

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- UC Irvine is tied for sixth place after the first round of the Big West Conference Championship at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara.

The Anteaters and UC Davis shot opening rounds of 292 Monday.  Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State are tied atop the leaderboard at 282.

UCI senior Bryan Shin led the 'Eaters with an even-round 72 and is in 17th place.

Juniors Ryan O'Connor and Jonathan Young are tied for 24th at 73, junior David Kim is 29th at 74 and freshman Jonathan Kang 35th after an opening round of 76.

Felix Mory of CSUN is the individual leader at 4-under 68.

The second round begins at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Anteaters in the second wave that starts at 12:20 p.m. off the first tee.
