UC Irvine Finishes 11th at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- UC Irvine placed 11th in the 71st annual Western Intercollegiate that concluded Sunday at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz.
The Anteaters finished with a 54-hole total of 1,107 in the 6-count-5 scoring format as the suspended second round was completed Sunday morning followed by the final 18 holes.
USC won the team title with a three-round score of 1,050, Stanford was second at 1,068 and Oregon finished third at 1,070.
Junior David Kim led the 'Eaters with an 11th-place showing of 213, shooting a 1-under 69 in the second round and 70 over the final 18 holes.
Senior Bryan Shin placed 24th at 216 following rounds of 71-70, junior Ryan O'Connor was 60th at 224 after two rounds each of 75, junior Jonathan Young (73-77) placed 65th at 225, freshman Jonathan Kang (79-76) finished 87th at 233 and junior Johnny Hyun (81-73) was 91st at 235.
Justin Suh of USC was medalist at 5-under 205.
UCI competes in the Cal Poly Shootout next Monday and Tuesday (April 17-18) at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande.
