
UC Irvine Places Fifth at Sac State Invitational

ELK GROVE, Calif. --- UC Irvine shot the third-best round of the day to finish fifth in the Sacramento State Invitational that concluded Tuesday at Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove.
The Anteaters shot a 1-over 289 for a final 54-hole total of 900. Grand Canyon won the team title at 862, Cal State Fullerton was second at 874 and UC Santa Barbara third at 879.
UCI junior David Kim carded the best round of the day with a 4-under 68 to place eighth with a three-round score of 219 for his sixth top-10 finish of the season.
Junior Ryan O'Connor shot a 73 Tuesday and finished 18th at 225, junior Jonathan Young (74) placed 25th at 228, junior Johnny Hyun (74) ended in 34th place at 231 and sophomore Chris Parkinson (76) was 42nd at 235.
Billy Comeaux of Grand Canyon was medalist with a total of 4-under 212.
The Anteaters, who have five top-five finishes in seven tournaments this season, return to action March 18-19 in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational at the ASU Karsten Course in Tempe, Ariz.
