Luke Nelson Has Team Highs in Minutes, Steals at NABC All-Star Game

GLENDALE, Ariz. --- Luke Nelson tied for the team high with 21 minutes of action for the West in the Reese's Division I College All-Star game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., Friday.

The 6-3 guard, who recently completed his prolific career at UC Irvine, also tied for the team high with three steals and added seven points, four rebounds and one assist as the West fell to the East All-Stars, 121-90, in the game that featured 20 of the nation's top seniors.

Nelson, the 2017 Big West Conference Player of the Year, was the first UCI player to compete in the event as part of Final Four weekend.

He led the Anteaters in scoring this season at 16.9 points per game, hitting at least 20 points on six occasions, and also topped the team with 30 steals.

Nelson was named to the NABC All-District 9 second team and was a member of the All-Big West first team for the second straight season.  He was selected to the All-Big West Tournament team for the third consecutive year.

Nelson ranks No. 1 in UCI history with 258 threes and he is fourth all-time in the Anteater record book with 1,531 points and 415 assists. He is fifth in program history with 145 steals.
