'Eaters Finish Fourth at PRO Compression

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. --- UC Irvine climbed five spots over the last two rounds to finish fourth in the PRO Compression Invitational that concluded Tuesday at the Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
It was UCI's fourth top-five finish in five tournaments this season.
The Anteaters shot 290 in the second round and 292 over the final 18 to finish with a 54-hole total of 882. UC Santa Barbara was first at 852, Wichita State second at 861 and Cal Poly third at 875 in the 12-team field.
The second round, which was suspended Monday due to darkness, was completed Tuesday morning followed by the final round.
UCI junior David Kim shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish eighth at 215. His 69 was the second-lowest round of the day as he recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the season.
Junior Jonathan Young placed 23rd at 223 after a final-round 76, sophomore Chris Parkinson (75) finished 26th at 224, junior Ryan O'Connor (72) was 32nd at 225 and junior Johnny Hyun (80) was 41st at 231.
Yannick Emmert of Wichita State was medalist at 203 after shooting a 68 in the last round.
The Anteaters return to action Feb. 27-28 in the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club in Long Beach.
