
UCI Hosts UC Santa Barbara on Senior Night

UCI will close out the regular season hosting UC Santa Barbara Tuesday (Nov. 21) at 7:00 p.m. at the Bren Events Center.
UCI will celebrate seniors Chloe Hakim, Brianna Montgomery and Luna Tsujimoto following the match.
ABOUT THE GAUCHOS
UCSB is 8-19 overall and 7-8 in the Big West.
The Gauchos swept Cal State Fullerton before getting swept by UC Riverside last weekend.
Sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Ruddins is the reigning Big West Player of the Week after two more 20+kill performances last week. She leads the nation in kill average at 5.91 per game.
Ruddins posted 32 kills against UCI last time they met, recording nine kills in the fifth set, the most by an NCAA player this season in a 15-point fifth set.
UCSB's junior libero Emilia Petrachi was named Big West Defensive Player of the Week this week after averaging 8.0 digs per set against the Titans and Highlanders. It was her fifth career Defensive weekly honor.

The Anteaters are looking toward a post-season appearance as the National Invitational Volleyball Championship selection will be announced Sunday evening (Nov. 26).
UC Irvine is ranked 16th in the latest VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll.
The 21 wins are tied for third most in program history and the most since UCI went 22-8 in 2009.
The Anteaters will finish the regular season in third place in the Big West, the highest conference place since 2009 when they were tied for second with an 11-5 mark.
The last time UCI had nine conference wins was 2014 when the club ended the year 9-7.
The Anteaters rank 28th nationally in aces with a 1.56 average.
UCI ranks second in the Big West in kills (13.49), assists (12.56) and aces. The Anteaters are third in hitting percentage (.243) and fourth in opponents hitting percentage (.196).
Junior Harlee Kekauoha ranks first in the Big West and 37th nationally in aces with a 0.42 mark. The opposite ranks fifth in the UCI career record books with 123.
Kekauoha leads the squad in kills with a 3.36 average, which ranks seventh best in the Big West. The lefty has recorded double-digit kills times this season.
Junior Haley DeSales is second on the team in kills (3.18), aces (32) and digs (2.50). She ranks sixth in aces and 10th in kills among Big West players.
Setter Ali Koumelis averages 10.27 set assists per game and ranks third in the Big West.
Middle blocker Idara Akpakpa ranks fourth in the league in hitting percentage at .373. She is averaging 2.52 kills and 0.62 blocks per set.
Libero Luna Tsuijimoto is third in the Big West with a 4.13 dig average. She posted a match-high 19 digs versus the Rainbow Wahine.
Last Saturday, UCI dropped a 3-0 contest to Hawaii in front of 1,009 fans at the Bren Events Center. The crowd was the largest since 1,035 watched UCI beat Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 20, 2009.
