Golden Coast Conference Honors Four Men's Water Polo Players

IRVINE, Calif. -- Four UC Irvine men's water polo players earned All-Golden Coast Conference honors, including Lovre Milos and Matej Matijevic on the first team and Fynn Schuetze as Newcomer of the Year.

Milos is third in the conference with 64 goals, leads the league in assists (43) and is second in points (107).  The senior also ranks fourth among GCC players with 44 steals.

Matijevic is a first-team selection for the second consecutive year after averaging 13.68 saves per game. He leads the conference in saves overall with 301. The senior recorded 78 saves in GCC games, which was the most in the conference.

Schuetze was named co-Newcomer of the Year, sharing the honor with San Jose State's Jacob Mercep. The lefty, who also earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team, totaled 38 goals in his first season with the Anteaters, which ranked second on the team.

Senior Kyle Trush joined Schuetze on the All-GCC honorable mention squad. Trush was 10th in the conference in assists with 20. He had 19 goals and 14 assists in his final campaign with the Anteaters.

UCI will host the Golden Coast Championship Friday-Sunday at the Anteater Aquatics Center. UCI, the third seed, will face sixth-seeded UC Santa Barbara at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
