This week, UCI will host UC Davis in a unique Saturday (Oct. 21) afternoon match beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Crawford Court.
VERSUS THE OPPONENTS
The Anteaters came from behind and won the final three sets to defeat the Aggies earlier this season at Davis for the team's first Big West victory.
UCI's Idara Akpakpa hit .409, topping the Anteaters with 12 kills and four total blocks. Harlee Kekauoha and Haley DeSales each recorded 10 kills with Kekauoha adding four aces and nine digs.
UC Davis led every statistical category, topping the Anteaters in kills (56-54), hitting percentage (.250-.195), aces (10-9), digs (67-59) and blocks (14-7). Mahalia White had a match-high 20 kills followed by Lauren Matias with 16 kills for the Aggies.
The Anteaters have a 14-12 lead in the series records with the Aggies since 2004.
UCD is 11-10 overall and 3-5 in the Big West. The Aggies are coming off a 3-1 loss to UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday.

Following Saturday's match, UCI will battle league-leader Cal Poly on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Bren Events Center. It will be a busy week as the Anteaters then travel to CSUN Friday (Oct. 27) and Long Beach State Saturday (Oct. 28).
UCI enters the week 17-2 overall and 5-1 in the Big West, the best start in program history.
The 17 wins are the 13th most in UCI history.
The 17 wins are the most wins since 2009 when the club was 22-8. The school record is 24 in 2003, when head coach Ashlie Hain was a player.
The Anteaters are 5-1 on the road and 7-0 at home this season.
UCI remained No. 13 in this week's VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll.
UCI is ranked eighth nationally in winning percentage (0.895) nationally. Only 13 teams in the country have two or fewer losses.
The Anteaters and Cal Poly top the league with 17-2 records.
UCI is ranked 10th in the country in aces with a 1.72 mark. Six different Anteaters have recorded aces in double-figures. UCI has fired 117 aces overall.
The Anteaters are ranked second in the Big West in kills (13.74), assists (12.81), hitting percentage (0.253) and opponents hitting percentage (0.180).
Kekauoha leads the Big West with a 0.43 average. She moved in to ninth all-time in UCI career aces with 111. The junior ranks sixth in the Big West in kills (3.44) and seventh in hitting percentage (.301).
Junior Haley DeSales is second on the team in kill average (3.38) and aces (26). She ranks seventh among Big West players in kills and fourth in aces (0.38). She is also averaging 2.52 digs.
Libero Luna Tsujimoto has reached double-digit digs in all but one match this season and has two 20-dig performances. The senior is averaging 4.19 digs per set, which is third in the conference.
Setter Ali Koumelis is averaging 10.31 set assists which is second in the Big West overall.
In the middle, junior Idara Akpakpa is fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.373), while averaging 2.41 kills and 0.62 blocks. Against conference opponents sophomore Makayla Wolfe is sixth in the Big West in blocking with a 1.00 average. She leads the team with a 0.78 blocking average overall and adds 1.72 kills per set.
Senior Brianna Montgomery has been a consistent force for the Anteaters, averaging 1.73 kills and 1.44 digs per set.
