UC Irvine Places Third at Folino Invitational

 

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. --- UC Irvine finished third in the Folino Invitational that concluded Tuesday at Industry Hills Golf Club.

The Anteaters had a 54-hole total of 887 as Long Beach State won the title with 872 and UC Santa Barbara was second with 874 in the 10-team field.

UCI junior David Kim placed fourth with a three-round score of 218 after shooting an even-par 72 in the final round on the Eisenhower Course.

Junior Ryan O'Connor earned his top collegiate finish of seventh with a 54-hole total of 220, including a 72 in Tuesday's final round.

Senior Bryan Shin carded an even-par 72 over the final 18 holes to finish 16th at 222.  Junior Johnny Hyun (79) finished 34th at 230 and freshman Jonathan Kang (81) placed 42nd at 235.

Sophomore Chris Parkinson, competing as an individual, shot 73 in the final round to place 21st at 225.

Joe Fryer of Long Beach State was medalist at 209 after a final-round 71.

Coach Paul Smolinski's Anteaters return to action in The Farms Collegiate Invitational Feb. 13-14 at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
