UC Irvine Downs San Jose State, 12-7

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. --- UC Irvine scored the game's first seven goals and went on to down San Jose State, 12-7, in the Mountain Pacific Invitational at Northgate High School in Walnut Creek Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Bryant Joudrie scored all three of his goals in the first quarter while Ian Fleenor and Ryan Warde also scored as UCI took a 5-0 lead.

Fleenor and Jon Polos added second-quarter goals as the 'Eaters led 7-0 with 2:55 left in the period before the Spartans scored one before halftime.

Warde and Greg Porter tacked on goals in the third quarter for UCI, which led 9-4 entering the final period.

Fleenor scored his third goal of the contest early in the fourth quarter and Jack Trush and Sven Davidson also scored for the 'Eaters, who improved to 6-5 on the season.

Matej Matijevic registered 17 saves in goal against his former school.

UCI has one game remaining in the invitational on Sunday morning at 11:30 at Northgate High.
