IRVINE, Calif. --- Eighth-ranked UC Irvine used balanced offense and solid defense in topping Concordia, 13-3, in a non-conference game at Anteater Aquatics Complex Thursday night.
Eight different Anteater players scored in the home opener, led by sophomore Jack Trush with three goals.
Ryan Warde, Jon Polos and Ian Fleenor added two goals each while Andrew Fisher, Brock Ivancovich, Bryant Joudrie and Christian Macias added one apiece.
Junior Matej Matijevic recorded 11 saves in goal with Benoit Viollier entering late in the game and registering three stops.
The 'Eaters (4-2) led 6-2 at halftime and outscored the Eagles, 7-1, in the second half. With the loss, Concordia fell to 1-4 on the season.
UCI is on the road Saturday, facing Loyola Marymount in a non-conference game at 10:30 a.m. before hosting California Baptist Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
