LA JOLLA, Calif. --- UC Irvine's 4x100 relay broke its own school record Saturday at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla.
Taisyn Crutchfield, Megan George, Michelle Norman and Persis William-Mensah lowered the time to 44.83 seconds, bettering their time of 45.51 that they had posted March 19 in the UCI Spring Break Invitational. It marked the third time this season that the relay record was broken.
William-Mensah placed sixth overall of 60 competitor in the 100 meters with a time of 11.80. Michelle Norman was seventh in 11.83, which ranks No. 4 in Anteater history, and Crutchfield finished 14th in 11.99.
Ariel Cheng cleared 12-1 ½ to place ninth in the pole vault invitational.
Paige Bushnell was 10th overall in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.23 and Crystal Lizaola finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 63.37.
Simone Buchanan placed 17th in the 400 meters in 57.04 and Brandy Coward was 27th overall in the 200 meters in 25.48.
UCI hosts the 22nd adidas/Steve Scott Invitational Friday and Saturday at Anteater Stadium.
