WESTWOOD --- UC Irvine turned in seven top-10 finishes at the UCLA Legends of Track & Field Invitational Saturday.
Tyra Jones placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 61.73 and Crystal Lizaola was 10th in 63.28.
Melanie Speech finished sixth in the javelin throw at 137-4 as she improved on her No. 9 mark in Anteater history. Marisa McGinnis finished 10th with a mark of 122-6.
Lisa Vasquez was seventh in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:56.28, Persis William-Mensah finished ninth in the 100 meters in 12.21 and Elizabeth Akindele was 10th in the shot put at 43.3 ¼.
Other results Saturday included Lauren Hall (2:15.41) and Hallie Pullum (2:16.85) placing 12th and 13th in the 800 meters, and Charity Lyons finishing 13th in the long jump with a mark of 17-6 ¾ and Elizabeth Cotociu 18th at 16-8 ¾.
Brenna McNulty was 14th in the 400 meters (59.25), Tatiana Martinez finished 15th in the 400-meter hurdles (66.35), Danika Hitchcock placing 15th in the triple jump (36-9) and Crystal Lizaola 17th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.38).
Madelyn Sando and Cotociu were 22nd and 23rd in the high jump, both clearing 4-11 ½.
UCI finished 10th with eight points in the team competition.
At the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays Saturday, Barbara Coward finished 13th in the discus throw with a mark of 156-10.
The Anteaters return to action Friday in the Big West Challenge at Cal State Fullerton.
