UC Irvine Begins Big West Championships

Kapalua, Hawaii – UC Irvine is in eighth place after a windy first day of the Big West Championships at the Kapalua Golf Course.
The Anteaters shot a score of 329 on the first 18 holes on the Bay Course. Cal Poly leads the tournament field with a score of 305, three strokes ahead of UC Davis, Long Beach State and UC Riverside (308).
Sophomore Breanne Jones is tied for 20th with a score of 80, while junior Samantha Chan is tied for 22nd (81) and sophomore Camille Wagg is tied for 27th (82). Both Jones and Wagg recorded birdie putts on her last two holes. Senior Kristin Henno recorded an 86 and is tied for 37th and sophomore Kelsey Kawaguchi is 40th at 88.
Round two of the three-day event tees off at 10:30 a.m. (Pacific) with the Anteaters paired with Cal State Fullerton. Live scoring can be found at www.golfstat.com
