Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine was defeated by No. 44 Dartmouth 6-1, in their first match back after a week off for final exams.

Dartmouth came out strong to quickly earn the doubles point and the first three points in singles, but the 'Eaters put up a fight forcing three match tie-breakers at flights one, two and six.

Vivien Dvali split sets at the No. 2 spot forcing a match tie-breaker where she ultimately defeated Katherine Yau 3-6, 7-5, 10-4 and earned the 'Eaters a point.  

No. 6 Ashlynn Hall played a close first set, earned the second set, but was unable to come up with the win in the match tie-breaker as she fell to Allison Chuang 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.

Sarah Gong kept it exciting at flight one against Dartmouth's Taylor Ng. Gong came from behind to force a tie-breaker in the first set, narrowly losing, only to come back to win the second set in another tie-breaker. The match tie-breaker went back and forth before Ng edged out Gong 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (5-7), 10-7.    

The Anteaters are on the road this week first meeting up with UC Davis on Thursday (March 24) at 11:00 a.m. at the Marya Welch Tennis Center in Davis, Calif.
