IRVINE, Calif. --- Senior Rebecca Garcia entered the UC Irvine record book Friday on the first day of the Spring Break Invitational at Anteater Stadium.

Garcia posted a second-place time of 11:12.01 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the No. 4 mark in UCI history. 

Aliya Shah finished fifth in the race in 11:31.81 for the ninth-best time on the Anteater all-time Top 10 list.

Bridget Devaney placed fourth in the hammer throw at 172-10, Dazhana Bauer-Jackson was sixth at 165-6 and Barbara Coward was ninth with a mark of 160-9.

In the 5,000 meters, Courtney Sharar finished eighth with a time of 18:09.26 and Megan Mirkhanian was 10th in 18:16.02.

The meet continues Saturday with field events beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the first running event at 12:00 p.m.
