Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine (2-10) started strong but ended up with the 4-1 loss to Georgetown (6-3) today at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The doubles point was up for grabs as the 'Eaters and Hoyas split the matches at Nos.1 and 3 spots. No.2 pair Andrea Duva and Vivien Dvali went back and forth with Georgetown's Sophie Barnard and Cecilia Lynham to tie the set up at 5-5 but came back to win the next two games with the final point an ace by Duva for the 7-5 win and the doubles point for UCI.

Georgetown tied it up with a win at No.3 singles.  No.6 Cassidy Branstine won the first set in a tie-breaker but lost the next two as Casey Marx took the 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 6-0 win. Dvali won her first set, lost the second and played strong in the third but ultimately fell to Risa Nakagawa 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 at the No.2 spot.

Georgetown clinched the match when Barnard defeated Mazy Watrous in a tight 6-4, 7-5 contest at flight four. Matches at Nos.1 and 5 remained unfinished.

UC Irvine will compete in their third home match this week on Friday (Mar.11) at 1:30 p.m. as they host Furman at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
