IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team closes out its fall tournament slate this weekend when it heads to San Diego for the SDSU Fall Classic II, Nov. 11-13.
The three-day tournament will be held at Aztec Tennis Center and features five teams including UCI, Arizona, Kansas State, North Texas and host San Diego State. There will be four singles draws and two doubles brackets. Action gets underway with doubles play each day at 9 a.m.
Five 'Eaters are entered in this weekend's singles competition. Freshman Constance Branstine, who is coming off a quarterfinal appearance at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Invitational, is ready for her fourth fall tournament. She will be joined by her older sister, senior Cassidy Branstine, while junior Ashlynn Hall and freshman Jacqueline Tsodikova are also back in action for the first time since Oct. 9. In addition, junior Hali Dickson is set to make her Anteater debut.
In doubles, Hall will team up with freshman Arianna Tilbury, and Tsodikova will join forces with Cassidy Branstine.
LAST TIME OUT
Three 'Eaters made their way to Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., for the Jack Kramer Club Collegiate Invitational last weekend. Constance Branstine highlighted the tournament as she advanced to the quarterfinals in the singles main draw. She defeated opponents from BYU, Fresno State and Northwestern, before falling to fifth-seeded Dzina Milovanovic of Pepperdine.
Freshman Stephanie Nguyen and Cassidy Branstine also competed in the tournament but fell in the Round of 64. Nguyen bounced back with a first-round consolation victory against Alaina Miller of UCLA (6-4, 7-5).
