Four Anteaters Honored on All-Big West Squad

IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine capped off 2016 with four members selected to the All-Big West team including a first-teamer and an inclusion to the all-freshman team.
This season marks the fourth straight with at least four Anteaters honored that includes a member on the first team
Thomas Janjigian made his second all-conference roster and first as a first-team member. The defender enjoyed his best offensive season with the first three goals of his career in addition to five assists to lead the entire squad with 11 points.
Two Anteaters populated the honorable mention list in senior Matthew Tilley and sophomore Ivan Canales. Tilley makes the team for the first time in his career after scoring one goal, defending three shutouts alongside Janjigian, and started and played in all 19 matches. Canales came in second on the squad with 10 points after posting two goals and six assists that all came in Big West matches which was good enough for his second honor in as many years.
The final selection was Jose Ortiz who was plugged into the Big West All-Freshman roster. He put up a pair of goals, a game-winner, and an assist in his first year joining Canales and Michael Sperber as Anteaters to have made the freshman squad in years' past.
