UCI will play the next three matches on the road, traveling to Cal Poly Thursday (Oct. 6) in Mott Gym then UC Riverside Saturday (Oct.8) at the Student Recreation Center. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Cal Poly leads the series with UCI 41-23, winning both contests last season.
The Mustangs are 8-6 overall and 1-2 in the Big West.
The Anteaters lead the Highlanders 32-12 all-time. UCI has won the last six meetings, recording 3-0 sweeps in each of the last five outings. UCR's last win (3-1) was Nov. 8, 2012 in Irvine and the last win in Riverside dates back to Nov. 12, 2005.
UCR is 5-9 on the year and 0-2 in the Big West.
ON THE RECORD
UCI is 6-12 on the year and 1-3 versus Big West foes.
The Anteaters are 4-2 on the road and just 1-4 at home.
Last week, UCI swept Cal State Fullerton (3-0) on the road then fell to UC Davis (3-1) at home.
Against the Titans, Haley DeSales paced the Anteaters with 11 kills, while hitting .556 (11-1-18). Harlee Kekauoha led the squad versus Davis with 12 kills and three aces.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
The Anteaters have used several players in their offensive attack, led by Victoria Dennis with a 3.66 kills per set. Harlee Kekauoha follows at 2.39 kills per set. Four other players average over a kill per set - Loryn Carter (1.94), Danielle Geiger (1.77), Haley DeSales (1.74) and Idara Akpakpa (1.26).
Kekauoha leads the squad in aces, firing 23
Libero Luna Tsujimoto has recorded digs in double-digits 13 times this season, including 20 or more on five occasions. Last week, the junior collected 17 against the Titans and 20 versus the Aggies. She is averaging 3.72 digs per set.
UCI and opponents are close in every statistical category except blocks. The Anteaters have 133.5 blocks this season compared to opponents' 158.0.
